Joplin Arts Fest is pleased to welcome illustrator Diana Carbajal to our 10th Anniversary show at the Cornell Complex in downtown Joplin. Her whimsical works will can be found on the Leggett & Platt Green this September 20 & 21.

“As an artist my primary medium is charcoal and ink in a realistic and illustration style. Each piece explores the themes of realism along with light and shadow, contrast and harmony. I also use various other media such as pencil, ink, and watercolor. Mixing mediums allows me to manipulate the tone and texture of my work, creating a range of effects from subtle to dramatic.

I create whimsical and humorous illustrations reflecting important people in my life and that capture the essence and emotions of my friends and family, using animals that symbolize their traits, values, and stories.

My goal is to inspire the viewers, and to invite them to join me in exploring the wonders and mysteries of my animal world. I hope to share my personal connections and experiences with the viewers, and to celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of the people personified as animals.”
